Valspar was recently listed in the Building Design + Construction (BD+C) 101 Top Products Report. The first annual report, which lists top products from the past 18 months, displays picks from both readers and editors of BD+C. The Valspar product chosen, coming in at number 30, was Valflon exterior coil coating.

Valspar, an international leader in architectural metal coatings, was recently listed in the Building Design + Construction (BD+C) 101 Top Products Report. The first annual report, which lists top products from the past 18 months, displays picks from both readers and editors of BD+C. The Valspar product chosen, coming in at number 30, was Valflon exterior coil coating.

Valflon fluropolymer (FEVE) resin-based coatings are known for their unique and vivid appearance. The coatings often feature bright, exotic colors, but are also available in neutral and pastel shades, and offer eye-catching high gloss and glittery mica finishes.

In addition to the sleek finish of metal panels coated in Valflon, the coating’s impeccable durability helped earn its spot in the 101 Top Products Report. BD+C stated that with the featured Valflon project, “the result is a dramatic, color-shifting purple and blue exterior with built-in resistance to airborne chemicals and protection against weathering, chalking, and fading.”

The Valflon project highlighted in BD+C was the Altara Center in San Pedro Sula, Honduras. The exterior of the building was developed to reflect the extravagance of the interior as well as to complement other buildings across the vibrant city. The architect, Gerado Lopez, decided to use ALPOLIC aluminum composite panels finished in Valspar Valflon coating in a custom Prismatic Purple shade. The coating gives the structure shimmer as well as create a color-shifting visual as the sun moves through the sky.

The 101 Top Products Report issue of Building Design + Construction was released in December 2016 and can be found on the BD+C website. Valspar’s Valflon feature is located on page 38.
